Accord deputy governorship candidate Kola Adewusi expresses confidence in victory, while raising concerns over delays in the arrival of INEC officials.
The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Accord Party in the Osun State governorship election, Prince Kola Adewusi, has expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in Saturday’s poll.
Adewusi, who cast his vote in Ile-Ife, said the deployment of security personnel across the state would help ensure a peaceful conduct of the election.
However, he raised concerns over the uneven arrival of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at some polling units.
According to Adewusi, while INEC officials arrived early at some polling centres, delays were recorded in other locations, a situation he said could affect the timely commencement of voting.
Despite the concerns, the Accord deputy governorship candidate maintained that he remained optimistic about the party’s chances, citing its campaign efforts and alleged strong support among voters across the state.
He expressed confidence that voters would be allowed to freely exercise their franchise and that the eventual result would reflect the will of the electorate.
Adewusi also appealed to voters, party supporters and other stakeholders to remain peaceful and conduct themselves responsibly throughout voting, counting and the collation of results.
The Osun governorship election is being contested by candidates from multiple political parties, with INEC scheduling the poll for August 15, 2026. INEC’s official election calendar confirms the date of the Osun governorship election.
The election has also witnessed reports of isolated tensions around some polling units, underscoring calls from stakeholders for restraint and peaceful participation as voting and collation continue.
