Receiving a research delegation led by Nigeria’s UN Permanent Representative, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, President Bola Tinubu declared that structural economic reforms have placed Nigeria on a stable growth trajectory, attracting global investment interest and advancing the nation’s push for a permanent United Nations Security Council seat.

In an address at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, July 23, 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu affirmed that his administration’s economic and structural reforms are gaining widespread international commendation and driving renewed global investment into Nigeria.

Speaking while hosting a delegation from the research organization Aseyori Tinubu, led by Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, President Tinubu noted that foreign multinationals are increasingly seeking strategic partnerships across key sectors of the Nigerian economy.

The President attributed this growing global confidence to the resilience of the Nigerian people and the steady implementation of fiscal policies designed to foster long-term macroeconomic stability.

Encouraging Ambassador Ibrahim to remain resolute in his diplomatic mission in New York, President Tinubu praised the UN envoy’s early achievements—including his election as Chairman of the United Nations General Assembly Fifth Committee on Budget and Administration—and charged him to intensify diplomatic efforts toward securing a permanent seat for Nigeria on the UN Security Council.

Addressing national economic progress, President Tinubu declared that the country has navigated its most challenging transitional phase, asserting that current indicators point toward a stable recovery fueled by industrial stimulation and expanded social welfare investments.

He highlighted the performance of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), revealing that he recently approved additional capital injections for the student scheme utilizing recovered proceeds from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Reassuring the delegation on domestic stability, President Tinubu underscored that academic calendars across tertiary institutions remain uninterrupted and national security capacity continues to strengthen.

He urged research bodies to continue producing data-driven insights to reinforce the country’s political and socio-economic governance frameworks.

In his remarks, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim commended President Tinubu’s leadership in repositioning Nigeria on the global stage, stating that the administration’s policy direction has transformed international perceptions and opened unprecedented avenues for foreign direct investment.

Ambassador Ibrahim reaffirmed his total commitment to advancing Nigeria’s diplomatic objectives at the United Nations, assuring the President that the mission remains steadfast in securing broader African representation and a permanent seat on the Security Council.
