Infrastructure projects executed by the Imo State Government have earned praise from the Presidency following an inspection tour by the Presidential Communications Team and senior journalists.

The Presidency has commended the scale and quality of infrastructure development in Imo State, describing projects executed by the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma as evidence of purposeful leadership.

The commendation followed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors National Media Tour organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in collaboration with the Presidential Communications Team.

The praise was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Mr. Tunde Rahman.

The delegation, comprising members of the Presidential Communications Team and more than 40 senior journalists, inspected several completed and ongoing projects across the state.

Among the projects visited were the Imo Digital City, a 2,000-bed Infectious Disease Centre, the Heart Transplant Centre at the Imo State University Teaching Hospital, the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre expansion and a state-owned five-star hotel.

Speaking during the tour, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, said Imo State was aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through strategic investments in infrastructure and human capital development.

“We saw a 2,000-bed infectious disease centre at almost 85 per cent completion. We saw the oxygen plant and the revitalisation of a healthcare facility that had been abandoned for years.

“These are projects that directly impact the people, and that is what Renewed Hope is all about,” Dare said.

The delegation also inspected the ongoing 19-kilometre Orlu–Akokwa–Uga Border Road linking Imo and Anambra states.

According to Dare, the road project will address gully erosion, improve interstate connectivity, facilitate commerce and strengthen regional integration.

He also commended the state government’s intervention in resolving accreditation challenges affecting graduates of Imo State medical schools, describing the effort as a major boost to healthcare delivery and medical education.

Dare further praised the Heart Transplant Centre and the Imo State University of Innovation, Science and Technology, noting that both projects align with the Federal Government’s vision of building a knowledge-driven economy.

He attributed the pace of development in the state partly to increased allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

“This wouldn’t have been possible without the increased FAAC allocation from the Federal Government.

“We have seen how APC governors are utilising these resources for impactful infrastructure development,” he said.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Mr. Declan Emelumba, reaffirmed the Uzodimma administration’s commitment to prioritising people-centred projects in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
