Youth development took centre stage as Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila urged young Nigerians to embrace unity, service and purposeful action while supporting national development at the 2026 City Boy Movement retreat.
The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has urged Nigerian youths to embrace responsibility, promote national unity and place the country’s interests above personal ambition in order to drive sustainable national development.
Gbajabiamila made the call in a goodwill message delivered to participants at the 2026 National Retreat of the City Boy Movement, themed “Youth, Unity and Action.”
He described the retreat as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future, noting that it comes at a crucial period of economic transformation and institutional renewal under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the Chief of Staff, Nigeria’s future will be shaped by young people who choose service over self, sacrifice over comfort and national interest above narrow personal ambitions.
“No nation rises above the quality of its youth. Every generation’s destiny is shaped by its willingness to embrace responsibility, uphold unity, and turn vision into action. The future we seek will not arrive by chance; it will be built deliberately by men and women who choose service over self, sacrifice over comfort, and nation over narrow interest,” he said.
Gbajabiamila stated that the Tinubu administration has confronted long-standing structural challenges through major economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy, the unification of the foreign exchange market and the modernisation of Nigeria’s tax system.
He said the reforms are gradually restoring economic stability, easing inflationary pressures and rebuilding investor confidence.
According to him, investments in infrastructure, human capital and youth empowerment—including expanded student loan programmes and technical skills development initiatives—are creating new opportunities for young Nigerians and laying the foundation for long-term national renewal.
The Chief of Staff commended the Patron and National Leader of the City Boy Movement, Barrister Seyi Tinubu, for his commitment to youth development and leadership.
He described Seyi Tinubu’s vision as instrumental to the growth of the movement and reflective of the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Gbajabiamila said the retreat’s theme, “Youth, Unity and Action,” reflects the values required to accelerate Nigeria’s development, adding that meaningful progress can only be achieved when ideas are translated into concrete action.
He urged members of the City Boy Movement to serve as ambassadors of the Renewed Hope Agenda by promoting peaceful engagement, building bridges across communities and inspiring confidence among young Nigerians through responsible leadership.
Also speaking, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, called for stronger grassroots mobilisation, institutional strengthening and sustained public engagement to consolidate the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, unveiled the organisation’s strategic roadmap aimed at mobilising 10 million youth votes for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
He explained that the strategy focuses on expanding the movement’s structures across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory while strengthening ward-level mobilisation through community-based advocates rather than relying primarily on social media campaigns.
In his remarks, the National Secretary of the movement, Tosin Odufuwa, described the retreat as a defining moment for the organisation.
He said the gathering was designed to strengthen the movement’s institutional capacity, improve coordination and prepare members for the next phase of nationwide mobilisation.
Odufuwa added that the City Boy Movement has grown into one of Nigeria’s largest youth-driven political organisations and urged participants to leave the retreat with a unified vision, stronger organisational structures and renewed commitment to national service.
The second day of the retreat, themed “National Leadership, Mobilisation and Strategy,” brought together state coordinators from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, members of the National Working Committee, the movement’s Patron, Barrister Seyi Tinubu, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, and other stakeholders.
