King Charles III has congratulated President Donald Trump and the American people on the United States’ 250th anniversary, praising the enduring alliance between Britain and America despite their shared history of conflict.

Britain’s King Charles III has congratulated President Donald Trump and the American people on the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence, describing the milestone as an opportunity to celebrate the country’s remarkable journey and the enduring partnership between both nations.

In a message released on Saturday, the British monarch said the anniversary marked a significant moment in American history.

“This year marks a truly historic milestone and a moment of great celebration for Americans everywhere,” Charles said.

“It offers an opportunity to pause and reflect on the remarkable journey of the United States over the past two and a half centuries, and to honour all that has been achieved since 1776.”

The United States is marking 250 years since the 13 colonies declared independence from Britain on July 4, 1776, a move that triggered the American Revolutionary War before Britain formally recognised U.S. sovereignty in 1783.

Despite the conflict that defined their early relationship, Britain and the United States later developed what has become widely known as the “special relationship.”

Charles described the evolution of ties between the two countries as an extraordinary journey from conflict to one of the world’s strongest international alliances.

“Our relationship is a story of extraordinary evolution, from overcoming conflict to forging one of the closest and most productive alliances the world has seen,” the King said.

He expressed confidence that both nations would continue working together to defend their shared values and address future global challenges.

“Together, we face the challenges of today, and the opportunities of tomorrow,” he said, adding that he believed Britain and the United States would continue strengthening their partnership over the next 250 years.

The monarch also highlighted environmental protection as one of the shared responsibilities facing both countries, reflecting an issue that has remained central to his public advocacy over several decades.

Earlier this year, in April, King Charles and Queen Camilla paid a multi-day state visit to the United States, where they were received by President Trump at the White House.

The visit came amid diplomatic sensitivities surrounding international issues, including tensions linked to the conflict involving Iran.

Following the visit, President Trump publicly praised King Charles, describing him in highly complimentary terms.
