condoles with Akunyili family
The College of Immaculate Conception Old Boys Association, CICOBA, Enugu State Branch has condemned the murder of Dr. Chike Akunyili, the Chief Medical Director CMD of a reputable medical facility in Enugu, the St. Leo Hospital, describing the ugly act as senseless, barbaric and most unfortunate.
In a mourning statement signed by its Enugu Branch Chairman, Dr. Sam Ogbu-Nwobodo, Esq. and obtained by GMTNews, the association expressed deep sadness over the assassination of Akunyili who was a chairman and one of the strongest pillars of the association.
Ogbu-Nwobodo who eulogized the slain Dr. Akinyili, said he was a philanthropic leader, a seasoned professional, father figure, a colossus and a man whom most people rallied around.
CICOBA which said they would greatly miss their Chairman emeritus, prayed for eternal repose his soul and commiserated with the entire Akunyili family.
He said: “The CIC Old Boys’ Association Enugu Branch, (CICOBA), and the entire CIC family are saddened by the news of the gruesome murder of our former Chairman, Chief Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband to the late Prof. Dora Akunyili.
“Dr. Akunyili was the proprietor and Chief Medical Director of St. Leo’s Hospital, a reputable medical facility in Enugu.
“Chief Chike Akunyili was a colossus, a philanthropic leader, a professional per excellence, custodian of the Igbo culture and tradition, a father figure to many, a rallying point as well as one of the strongest pillars of our association. It is therefore so shocking that anyone could carry out such dastardly acts on him.
“The association condemns in the strongest terms the senseless killing of Dr. Akunyili together with his driver and orderly.
“We send our heartfelt condolences to the entire Akunyili family.
“While we mourn his loss as we sorely miss him, we pray God for the repose of his peaceful soul,” the statement concluded. (GMTNews)
