The All Progressives Congress has officially kicked off its re-election Campaign for Governor Biodun Oyebanji, signaling a massive push toward victory in the upcoming June 20 Ekiti governorship election.
ADO-EKITI – The All Progressives Congress (APC) officially flagged off Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election Campaign on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, marking the start of a high-stakes drive ahead of the June 20 governorship election in the state.
The event, hosted at the Ekiti State Pavilion on the New Iyin-Ado-Ekiti Road, drew a massive crowd of stakeholders and party heavyweights, signaling widespread support for the incumbent administration.
Addressing the rally, Governor Oyebanji emphasized that the state has witnessed unprecedented growth in infrastructure, human capital development, and social interventions. He credited this momentum to the robust support received from President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“Ekiti State is blessed to have a president in the person of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu at the helm of affairs,” Oyebanji remarked. He noted that long-abandoned, critical road networks – including the Ado-Ekiti-Akure and Itaure-Aramoko-Ado-Ekiti roads – have been approved and are currently receiving urgent attention.
He urged the electorate to reciprocate the President’s support by ensuring the party’s victory in the June 20 polls.
The event served as a show of force for the APC, with several high-profile leaders in attendance. The Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna, was joined by Governors Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Usman Ododo (Kogi), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta).
The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, expressed optimism regarding the election. He described the flag-off as a “decisive march toward electoral success,” praising the alignment between the state and federal government.
State APC Chairman, Mr. Sola Eleshin, stated that the party has mobilized over 5,000 canvassers, setting a target of at least 500,000 votes to ensure a decisive win. “Our focus is a violence-free and issue-based Campaign,” Eleshin asserted.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, praised Oyebanji for fostering a united state through developmental initiatives. He argued that the only path to ensuring continued peaceful co-existence is the re-election of the incumbent governor.
Echoing this sentiment, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele described Oyebanji as “a round peg in a round hole,” noting that the governor’s grassroots connection and inclusive governance have earned him the confidence of the people.
Former Governor Kayode Fayemi added that the administration’s performance over the last three years and seven months has effectively silenced political critics, calling on party members to maintain their momentum through to election day.
Prior to the rally, the visiting governors and party leadership paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, to pay homage and seek royal blessings for the upcoming political season.
