The Enugu State Government has invited LG chairmen, traditional rulers, and market leaders to a crucial April 7 meeting to harmonise Enugu market revenue collection across markets.
ENUGU — The Enugu State Government has announced a high-level stakeholders’ meeting aimed at clarifying and harmonising revenue collection processes across markets in the state, in a move to strengthen transparency and streamline operations.
The Enugu market revenue meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2026, will bring together key actors in the state’s revenue and grassroots administration structure. Expected at the session are chairmen of the 17 Local Government Councils, traditional rulers (Igwe) of all autonomous communities, Presidents-General, as well as the leadership of the Enugu State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ESMATA) and the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service.
According to a public service announcement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Chidiebere Onyia, the meeting will hold at the Old Government Lodge by 11:30 a.m. prompt.
The Enugu market revenue engagement is expected to address concerns around multiple taxation, revenue leakages, and the need for a unified framework that ensures fairness and accountability in market collections across the state.
