President Bola Tinubu announces new appointments, naming Ibrahim Ida as CAC chairman and nominating seven Federal Commissioners for the National Population Commission.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh round of appointments, naming Sen. Ibrahim Ida as Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and nominating seven Federal Commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC).

The nominations, which are subject to confirmation by the National Assembly, are aimed at filling vacant positions in the NPC, according to a statement issued Monday in Abuja by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.

Ida holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan (1983) and an LLB from the University of Abuja (2003). He previously served as Commissioner of Finance for Katsina State and as Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service before his election to the Senate in 2017 to represent Katsina Central.

The nominees for Federal Commissioners to represent their respective states in the NPC include Kolawole Alabi (Ekiti), Nasiru Mu’azu (Zamfara), Usman Tuggar (Bauchi), Dr. Isaka Yahaya (Kwara), Prof. Sadiq Radda (Katsina), Suleiman Umar (Jigawa), and Hon. Chiso Dattijo (Sokoto).

The presidency said the appointments complement other Federal Commissioners already sworn in, pending legislative confirmation.

Tinubu also appointed Dr. Yusuf Mohammed as Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo, in Gombe State.

In a related development, the president confirmed the appointment of Bala Bello as Special Adviser on Political Economy. Bello, from Taraba State, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Before his appointment, Bello served as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and as Executive Director (Corporate Services) at the Nigerian Export-Import Bank between 2017 and 2022.

Tinubu expressed confidence in the capacity of the appointees to contribute meaningfully to governance and improve the welfare of Nigerians.
