Governor Chukwuma Soludo sacks all political appointees in Anambra, ordering immediate handover pending formation of a new cabinet.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has directed all political appointees to vacate their positions with immediate effect, less than 24 hours after beginning his second term in office.
The directive was contained in a circular issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government and signed by Nwabufor Nwankwo.
According to the circular, all affected appointees are to hand over to Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servants in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The government mandated that the handover process be completed before the close of work on March 18, 2026.
The move is seen as part of steps toward forming a new cabinet for the governor’s second term.
Officials confirmed that former cabinet members from the first term have been invited to a meeting with the governor scheduled for March 23 at the State Executive Council Chambers.
The sweeping decision signals a reset of the administration’s structure as the governor prepares to reconstitute his executive team.
Such actions are not uncommon at the start of a new term, allowing for reassessment of performance and alignment with policy priorities.
