President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the recent attack on Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, which claimed several lives.
The President extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those affected by the terrorist assault carried out by members of Boko Haram.
In a statement, Tinubu lamented the loss of innocent lives, including military personnel, as well as civilians who were caught in friendly fire during an aerial interdiction carried out by the Nigerian Air Force while pursuing fleeing terrorists.
He described the incident as a heartless attack on innocent citizens, urging residents of Borno and other parts of the country not to give in to fear.
The President commended the Nigerian military for its swift response to the assault, noting that the operation led to the killing of several terrorists and forced others to retreat.
He also directed the armed forces and other security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue individuals kidnapped during the attack.
Tinubu further instructed security agencies to strengthen measures aimed at protecting civilians across the country and preventing further assaults on military installations in the North-East.
The President offered prayers for the souls of those who lost their lives in the attack and the subsequent friendly fire incident.
He also extended his sympathies to the families of the victims and the government of Borno State during this difficult period.
