The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the Public Affairs Unit of WAEC’s National Office in Lagos and signed by Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of the Unit.

According to the Council, candidates can check their results via the official West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result portal before proceeding to access their digital certificates online. Applicants seeking hard copy certificates are required to apply through the WAEC Certificate Request Portal (e-Certman) for processing.

WAEC advised all candidates to carefully review their results and promptly complete all necessary procedures relating to certificate access and online applications.

Enrollment and Participation

A total of 69,604 candidates registered for the examination, reflecting a 1.8 percent increase compared to the 68,342 candidates recorded in 2024.

Out of those registered, 65,752 candidates sat for the examination across 370 centres nationwide.

Among the candidates were 235 persons with special needs, including visually impaired, hearing impaired candidates and albinos.

Of the 65,752 candidates who took the examination, 32,005 (48.68 percent) were male, while 33,747 (51.32 percent) were female.

Result Processing and Performance

The Council disclosed that 61,943 candidates, representing 94.21 percent, have had their results fully processed and released. However, 3,809 candidates (5.79 percent) still have some subjects being processed due to errors traceable to them.

WAEC assured affected candidates that efforts are ongoing to complete the processing promptly.

Performance analysis shows that 33,989 candidates (51.69 percent) obtained credit passes and above in at least five subjects, with or without English Language and Mathematics.

Meanwhile, 27,727 candidates (42.17 percent) secured five credits including both English Language and Mathematics – the benchmark requirement for admission into many tertiary institutions.

Of those who met this benchmark, 13,416 (48.39 percent) were male, while 14,311 (51.61 percent) were female.

Withheld Results Over Malpractice

WAEC further disclosed that 1,899 candidates, representing 2.89 percent of those who sat for the examination, had their results withheld over alleged cases of examination malpractice.

Investigations into the reported cases are ongoing, and findings will be presented to the appropriate Committee of the Council for determination.

The Council stated that decisions reached by the Committee will be communicated directly to the affected candidates in due course.
