No fewer than 21 ships are currently discharging petroleum products and other commodities at the Apapa, Lekki, and Tin-Can Island ports in Lagos, according to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
The NPA disclosed this on Saturday in an update on vessel traffic and cargo activities at the nation’s busiest seaports.
It said the ships are offloading a mix of petrol, diesel, crude oil, general cargo, containers, bulk gas, fresh fish, bulk gypsum, and bulk urea.
The authority further disclosed that an additional 31 ships, laden with petroleum products, food items, and other goods, are expected to arrive at the Lagos ports between Saturday and February 20.
According to the NPA, the expected vessels will convey general cargo, bulk oil, bulk urea, bulk gas, diesel, crude oil, bulk wheat, containers carrying assorted goods, petrol, raw crude oil, and bulk gypsum.
It also revealed that 10 ships had already arrived at the ports and were awaiting berthing, with consignments including bulk urea, crude oil, diesel, containers, and general cargo.
The authority said the steady vessel traffic reflected sustained port activity and ongoing efforts to ensure smooth cargo handling and turnaround time across Lagos ports.
