Enugu Commissioner, Benedette Okoli has mobilised women from 11 Awgu wards to support Tinubu, Mbah and APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Enugu State Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Eradication, Prof. Benedette Okoli, has mobilised women across 11 political wards in Awgu Local Government Area to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah in the 2027 general elections.
Okoli made the call on Sunday while addressing women gathered in support of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
She said the mobilisation was organised to educate women on the achievements of the Mbah administration, the APC and the importance of supporting the party’s candidates at all levels.
According to her, inadequate information about government programmes and achievements often leaves citizens unaware of developments in their communities, making political education and grassroots engagement necessary.
“When people do not have information, they wallow in ignorance. That is why I invited the women today to educate them about the things Gov. Mbah has done, which many people do not know about.
“We have come here to mobilise them for President Tinubu, the governor and all candidates contesting under the APC. We are going to vote APC from top to bottom,” she said.
The commissioner attributed some of the governor’s achievements to support from the Federal Government, emphasising the need for continuity in governance.
She also expressed satisfaction with the turnout of women from the 11 political wards.
Speaking at the event, the member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, Mr Anayo Onwuegbu, urged the women to support Tinubu, Mbah and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Onwuegbu called on the women to reciprocate what he described as the governor’s good works through their votes, while commending Okoli for organising the mobilisation programme.
Similarly, the APC Enugu State Woman Leader, Mrs Esther Edeh, praised Mbah for appointing more women into various positions in his administration.
She pledged that women across the state would give Tinubu, Mbah and other APC candidates massive electoral support in 2027.
“We will vote for President Tinubu, Mbah and other APC candidates from top to bottom in 2027,” Edeh said.
The Awgu Local Government Chairman, Mr Uche Okoro, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Ndubuisi Nwandeigwe, also commended the governor for executing projects in the area.
He particularly highlighted the transformation of the Awgu Game Village, which he said had remained abandoned since 1999.
Okoro further appreciated Mbah for appointing indigenes of the area into his cabinet and pledged the people’s support for his re-election.
“Our support for you come 2027 is total and complete, and, if possible, you do not need to campaign in Awgu,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the governor, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, described Mbah as the best governor Enugu State has ever had, citing what he called empirical evidence of the administration’s performance.
Onyia said the large turnout of women from the 11 wards reflected their support for the governor and their desire for continuity in the state.
He maintained that the administration had several achievements to present to voters and assured women of continued recognition and partnership in governance.
“We are here to galvanise the women and tell them that we see and hear them.
“We will continue to work with them as partners through this whole process, leading up to the election and the governance of Enugu State,” Onyia said.
