President Bola Tinubu has appointed Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo as Director of Air Mobilisation for the APC’s 2027 re-election campaign, tasking him with coordinating air travel and aviation logistics across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, as Director of Air Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 re-election campaign.

The appointment places Keyamo in charge of coordinating air travel and aviation logistics to support campaign activities nationwide ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Mr Tunde Moshood, announced the appointment in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, October 25.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council is coordinating preparations for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Under the new arrangement, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, will serve as Deputy Director I, while the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Mr Farouk Umar, will serve as Deputy Director II.

Moshood said the appointments reflected the strategic importance of air transportation and aviation logistics to the coordination of a nationwide presidential campaign.

He explained that the directorate would oversee campaign-related air travel arrangements, facilitate the movement of designated officials and personnel, and support activities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

According to him, the directorate would work with other campaign structures to ensure effective planning, operational efficiency and the appropriate deployment of logistical resources.

Moshood said Keyamo’s appointment would bring the experience of a serving aviation minister to the campaign’s organisational framework.

He added that the minister had pursued policy initiatives aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s aviation sector, improving its international standing and positioning the country as a major African aviation hub.

Keyamo’s familiarity with aviation operations, Moshood said, was expected to support the planning and coordination of the directorate’s activities.

He also expressed confidence that Kuku and Umar would contribute their technical knowledge and leadership experience to the assignment.

Moshood noted that air transportation was an important component of campaign logistics, particularly when political leaders and officials needed to cover multiple locations within tight schedules.

He said the directorate would support campaign activities through structured planning, stakeholder coordination, efficient scheduling and appropriate logistical arrangements.

However, he stressed that its effectiveness would depend on collaboration with other directorates, clear operational procedures and compliance with aviation safety requirements and applicable electoral laws.

Moshood further stated that campaign-related arrangements must remain separate from official government functions and be conducted through properly authorised channels.
