APC chieftain Sam Onuigbo has defended the inclusion of Nyesom Wike, Chukwuma Soludo and Ademola Adeleke in President Bola Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 election.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sam Onuigbo, has defended the inclusion of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke in President Bola Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election.

Onuigbo said the appointments reflected political cooperation across party lines, arguing that support for an administration’s policies should not be restricted to members of the ruling party.

The APC chieftain spoke with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, October 15, 2026, following the inclusion of the three politicians, who belong to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Accord Party, respectively, in the revised campaign council.

The APC announced the appointments in its expanded campaign structure on October 13, with Wike assigned to coordinate campaign activities in Rivers State and the FCT, Soludo in Anambra State, and Adeleke in Osun State. President Tinubu subsequently inaugurated the council on October 14. .

Onuigbo, who represented Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency in the Eighth National Assembly, said the appointments were justified by what he described as the trio’s support for Tinubu’s administration.

He characterised the arrangement as a democratic alliance based on shared interests and support for governance policies, rather than party membership alone.

“Democracy is a system of government that does not use force of the barrel of gun but applies consensual and understanding,” Onuigbo said.

He added that the central objective of democracy should be a government that promotes the welfare and happiness of citizens, arguing that Wike and other politicians had aligned with Tinubu because of their assessment of his administration.

Onuigbo described the inclusion of opposition figures in the APC campaign structure as an example of political cooperation across party boundaries.

The APC chieftain also praised Tinubu’s economic policies and reforms, citing growth in gross domestic product (GDP), the unification of the foreign exchange market and crude oil production as areas of progress.

He expressed confidence that Tinubu, if re-elected in 2027, would strengthen Nigeria’s position internationally.

Onuigbo also commended Tinubu and Wike over infrastructure development in Abuja, saying the APC-led Federal Government had made progress in addressing the capital’s infrastructure deficits.

His remarks come amid the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the expanded campaign council bringing together political figures from different parties to coordinate support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
