President Bola Tinubu has expressed condolences to the family and community of Eze Francis Eze Igwe, Agom Ugabala II of Ndufu Alike Autonomous Community in Ebonyi State, describing his death as a loss to the traditional institution and his people.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Eze Francis Eze Igwe, the Agom Ugabala II of Ndufu Alike Autonomous Community in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

In a condolence message issued on Sunday, October 11, 2026, the President described the late monarch as a traditional ruler, politician, educationist and administrator whose contributions left a lasting mark on his community.

Tinubu said the death of a respected traditional ruler represented more than the loss of an individual, describing it as the loss of a custodian of culture, a repository of wisdom and a symbol of unity.

He noted that traditional institutions remained important to preserving Nigeria’s cultural heritage, promoting communal harmony and fostering peace and understanding among the people.

The President said the monarch’s passing was a painful loss to his immediate family, the Ndufu Alike Autonomous Community, the people of Ikwo and Ebonyi State at large.

He extended his condolences to the monarch’s son, former Ebonyi State Deputy Governor, Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe, as well as the immediate and extended family, associates and the State Traditional Council.

Acknowledging the personal grief that accompanies the loss of a father, Tinubu prayed that the family would find comfort in the memories of their patriarch, the values he imparted and the legacy he left behind.

The President also urged the traditional institution and members of the Ndufu Alike community to honour the late monarch by upholding unity, peace, mutual respect and communal development.

He said the monarch’s life served as a reminder that although life was transient, a legacy built on service, family and community could endure beyond an individual’s lifetime.

“On behalf of the Federal Government and the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I extend my sincere condolences to the Igwe family, the traditional institution, and the entire people of Ndufu Alike Autonomous Community,” the President said.

Tinubu prayed for the peaceful repose of the monarch’s soul and for God to grant his family, community and all those mourning his death the strength to bear the loss.
