President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ezughah at 65, praising the NPC Executive Secretary’s contributions to journalism, ethical standards and national development.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Press Council (NPC), Dr. Dili Ezughah, on his 65th birthday, praising his contributions to journalism, public communication and national development.

Tinubu conveyed the congratulatory message in a statement issued on Sunday, October 4, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The President described Ezughah’s career as a testament to professionalism, dedication and service to Nigeria, while commending his efforts toward strengthening standards and ethical practices within the country’s press.

Tinubu particularly praised Ezughah’s commitment to promoting professionalism, responsible journalism and adherence to established media standards, noting the importance of a credible press to Nigeria’s democratic development.

“Through your service at the Nigeria Press Council and your broader contributions to the media profession, you have continued to play a role in strengthening the standards, ethics and responsibilities that underpin a credible press,” the President said.

Tinubu said Ezughah’s 65th birthday offered an opportunity to celebrate not only his personal milestone but also his contributions to the development of Nigeria’s media landscape.

He stressed that a professional, ethical and responsible media remains essential to informed public discourse, accountability and the effective functioning of democratic institutions.

“As our nation continues to deepen its democratic institutions, the role of a professional, ethical and responsible media cannot be overemphasised,” Tinubu said.

The President also commended Ezughah for his commitment to the responsibilities associated with promoting and upholding standards in the Nigerian press.

Ezughah was appointed Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Press Council by President Tinubu in October 2023, alongside new leadership for several agencies under the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

In his birthday message, Tinubu wished Ezughah renewed strength, wisdom and good health, expressing confidence that he would continue contributing to the advancement of journalism and national development.
