The APC North Central has scheduled a major rally in Lafia on October 10 as part of its grassroots mobilisation campaign for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 election.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central has scheduled a major rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, for Saturday, October 10, as part of its grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The rally is being organised under the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The mobilisation initiative was launched at an inaugural meeting held at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, in Abuja, on Friday.

According to a statement issued by Dele Alake, spokesman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Akume commended the movement’s National Coordinator, Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono, for bringing stakeholders together.

Akume said the North Central had an objective of mobilising support to deliver the region’s highest vote total for President Tinubu in the 2027 election.

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, also described the initiative as timely and said the movement would provide a platform for taking the party’s message to communities across the region.

Sule further said the region was politically stronger than it was ahead of the 2023 election, pointing to the presence of North Central politicians in key government and party positions.

Echono said the movement would bring together political leaders, grassroots actors and other stakeholders across the North Central under a coordinated mobilisation framework ahead of the election.

He commended Akume, the North Central Governors’ Forum and other stakeholders for their support for the Tinubu administration.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the initiative as the first of its kind.

Beyond the Lafia rally, the movement resolved to organise medical outreach programmes and town-hall meetings across the North Central region.

The forum also agreed to establish a reconciliation committee to address grievances within the party.

It further resolved that the Minister of Information would work with state commissioners for information, APC state publicity secretaries and publicity committees to increase awareness of the initiative.

The North Central comprises Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states, alongside the Federal Capital Territory.

The mobilisation drive is part of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election, in which the party is seeking another term for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima.

The Lafia rally is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026.
