Nkanu East Chairman Mike Ogbuekwe has charged council staff to embrace discipline, punctuality, teamwork and professionalism for effective service delivery.
The Executive Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Mike Chikosolu Ogbuekwe, has charged council staff to uphold discipline, punctuality, teamwork and professionalism in the discharge of their official duties.
Ogbuekwe gave the charge during a meeting with members of staff at the Nkanu East Local Government Secretariat in Amagunze, as he began setting the direction for his administration.
The meeting was attended by Heads of Departments, administrative officers and other members of the council workforce.
Addressing the staff, the chairman identified commitment, discipline, punctuality, teamwork, diligence and professionalism as key values expected to guide the council’s operations.
He stressed that public servants have a responsibility to serve the people of Nkanu East with dedication and ensure that government services are delivered effectively and efficiently.

“Our people voted for change and for better service. We cannot fail them. This can only be achieved if we all commit to doing our work with discipline and as a team. Lateness to work and lackadaisical attitude will no longer be tolerated,” Ogbuekwe said.
The chairman also assured the workforce that his administration would operate an open and inclusive system while giving attention to staff welfare and workplace conditions.
He, however, stressed that improved welfare would be accompanied by a corresponding expectation of productivity, responsibility and professionalism from council employees.
The meeting comes shortly after Ogbuekwe assumed office as Executive Chairman of Nkanu East following his swearing-in on September 30, 2026, alongside other newly elected local government chairmen in Enugu State. The Enugu State Government has charged the new council administrations to commence work immediately and contribute actively to grassroots development.
Ogbuekwe has also begun his tenure with engagements focused on development priorities, including an inspection of the Green Smart School project in Ugbawka, signalling attention to projects and services with direct impact on residents.
Responding to the chairman’s directive, members of staff pledged their support for the administration and expressed their readiness to work in line with its vision for Nkanu East.
The chairman said the collective commitment of the council workforce would be essential to translating the administration’s plans into effective service delivery for Ndi Nkanu East.
