Enugu NDC governorship candidate Chinyeaka Ohaa assures youths of inclusion and support as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate in Enugu State, Chief Chinyeaka Ohaa, has assured young people of continued support and inclusion in the affairs of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ohaa gave the assurance on Monday when the South-East Zonal Youth Wing of the NDC, led by its leader, Comrade Ogbonnaya Igwe, paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Enugu.
He said his doors would remain open to young people and youth-focused initiatives within the party, stressing the importance of youth participation in the political process.
Ohaa also recalled his relationship with young people during his years in public service at the federal level, saying his commitment to youth development and participation remained unwavering.
He said youths constitute an important component of the political process and should be encouraged to participate actively in party affairs and other democratic activities.
Earlier, Igwe said the visit was part of the Youth Wing’s South-East zonal tour aimed at strengthening the party’s youth structure and mobilising members ahead of the 2027 elections.
He commended party candidates and members for their commitment and urged them to remain dedicated to building the party.
Igwe also emphasised the role of young people in the political process and encouraged members of the Youth Wing to participate actively in party activities.
He commended the Enugu State Youth Wing Coordinator, Mr Ude Jideofor, for his contributions to the development and activities of the youth structure in the state.
Jideofor thanked the zonal leadership, party candidates and other stakeholders for their support and urged members to remain committed to their responsibilities, stressing teamwork and active participation as political activities intensify.
Also speaking, the NDC National Youth Wing Deputy Coordinator, Comrade Onyemachi Oti, commended members and candidates for their commitment.
Oti said the Youth Wing was prepared to participate actively in the 2027 electoral process, while stressing the importance of protecting voters’ rights through lawful and democratic means.
The NDC Enugu West Senatorial Candidate, Mr Uche Eneh, who spoke on behalf of the candidates, appreciated the Youth Wing for its activities and contributions to the party.
Eneh encouraged youths to participate actively in governance and exercise their civic responsibilities during the 2027 elections. He also highlighted the importance of voter participation and the deployment of polling-unit agents to ensure votes are properly recorded and protected in accordance with the law.
Ohaa’s engagement with the youth wing comes amid recent efforts within the Enugu NDC to resolve disagreements over the party’s governorship ticket. Prof. James Ene-Nwannaji recently withdrew his legal challenge against Ohaa’s emergence and subsequently expressed support for his candidacy.
