President Bola Tinubu has met Vincent Bolloré in Paris as the Bolloré Group outlines plans to deepen its operations and investments in Nigeria’s film, entertainment, fibre-optic and digital sectors.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held talks with French businessman Vincent Bolloré in Paris on plans by the Bolloré Group to deepen its investments and localise operations in Nigeria’s creative and digital economy.
The meeting took place on Friday as part of Tinubu’s working vacation in France, according to a statement issued by the State House.
The Bolloré Group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group, confirmed plans to expand its Nigerian operations across film, entertainment, fibre-optic infrastructure and related sectors.
During the meeting, Bolloré and his executives outlined new investments centred on Nigeria, citing the international growth of Nollywood and Afrobeats and increasing global demand for Nigerian cultural content.
Tinubu welcomed the plans, saying Nigeria’s growing global cultural influence creates opportunities to attract more production, investment and jobs to the country.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s emphasis on economic growth, job creation for young Nigerians and digitalisation.
He said the Federal Government would continue to support investments that expand the creative and digital economy, develop local talent, strengthen infrastructure and position Nigeria as a base for businesses serving African and international markets.
Tinubu also said the Renewed Hope Agenda seeks to create an economy where Nigerian talent, enterprise and cultural reach generate greater economic opportunities and improved livelihoods.
The meeting comes amid broader efforts by the administration to attract investment into Nigeria’s digital economy. On September 17, the State House announced that the President had moved the Digital Free Zones initiative toward implementation, with the stated aim of attracting global capital and enabling Nigerian technology and service companies to operate and scale from the country.
