Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has praised the DSS after a successful operation led to the rescue of a kidnap victim, the arrest of three suspected kidnappers and the destruction of a criminal hideout in the state.
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security operatives following a successful operation that led to the rescue of a kidnap victim and the arrest of three suspected kidnappers in the state.
Sule, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Addra, on Friday, praised the security agencies for what he described as a demonstration of their effectiveness and commitment to tackling criminal activities across Nasarawa State.
The operation reportedly targeted a criminal hideout at Atabula in Duduguru community, within the Jenkwe Development Area of Obi Local Government Area. One suspect was arrested at the hideout, while two others were subsequently tracked and apprehended at a hotel in Lafia, the state capital.
Security operatives also dismantled and destroyed the makeshift camp allegedly used by the criminal group and recovered cash, five mobile phones and other items during the operation.
Reports identified the rescued victim as Joseph Obagwu, who had reportedly gone to secure the release of his son, Samuel Olom Obagwu, a student of the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA), after the younger man was abducted. The operation brought the victim to safety while security operatives moved to apprehend members of the alleged kidnap syndicate.
The development comes amid renewed security efforts in Nasarawa, with state authorities placing greater emphasis on intelligence gathering, surveillance and cooperation between security agencies and communities.
Governor Sule described the arrests and rescue operation as evidence of the dedication of security personnel in the fight against criminal elements.
He urged the DSS and other security agencies to sustain the momentum and remain resolute in dismantling criminal networks and protecting residents across the state.
Sule also assured security agencies of the continued support of his administration as they discharge their responsibilities.
The governor called on residents to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely, credible and useful information about suspicious activities.
According to him, collective vigilance and cooperation between citizens and security agencies remain critical to sustaining peace and security in Nasarawa State.
The latest operation adds to recent security actions in the state targeting kidnapping networks and their operational bases, as authorities seek to prevent criminal groups from establishing a foothold in Nasarawa.
