A three-vehicle crash involving Ondo lawmaker Donald Ojogo on the Ore–Ondo Road left two female commuters injured, while the lawmaker and 16 other occupants escaped unhurt.
The lawmaker representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency of Ondo State, Donald Ojogo, escaped unhurt after being involved in a three-vehicle crash along the Ore–Ondo Road on Saturday.
The Ondo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr Samuel Ibitoye, confirmed the incident to newsmen by telephone.
According to Ibitoye, the crash involved 19 people and three vehicles, with two female commuters sustaining injuries.
The FRSC commander said preliminary findings indicated that the crash was caused by wrongful overtaking combined with speeding.
“19 people were involved in total, made up of 15 males and four females. Out of the 19 people, two female commuters were injured,” Ibitoye said.
He added that the injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital where they received medical attention.
The lawmaker and the other 16 occupants were not injured. The vehicles involved were two buses and a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.
Ibitoye urged motorists to exercise patience on the road and adopt defensive driving techniques to reduce the risk of crashes. He specifically warned against speeding and dangerous overtaking.
“Speeding could be thrilling, but it also kills as well. People should avoid speeding while they are driving and also shun wrongful overtaking,” he said.
The crash occurred while Ojogo was travelling to Arogbo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area for a political engagement.
