President Bola Tinubu extends warm birthday congratulations to former Minister of Power, Professor Bart Nnaji, praising his historic contributions to Nigeria’s energy infrastructure and the groundbreaking Aba Integrated Power Project.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his warmest congratulations to the former Minister of Power, Professor Bart Nnaji, on the auspicious occasion of his 70th birthday, which was celebrated on July 13.

Highlighting his exceptional career as a world-class engineer and administrator, the President joined family, friends, and professional associates in honoring the Chairman of Geometric Power for his lifelong dedication to national development.

Professor Nnaji, who served as Nigeria’s Minister of Power from 2011 to 2012, currently lends his extensive expertise to academia and scientific advancement, serving as the Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Nigeria Prize for Science and as the Pro-Chancellor of Bells University of Technology in Ogun State.

Recognizing his deep patriotic commitment and peerless structural engineering acumen, President Tinubu had notably invited the academic giant to participate in the high-level Presidential Retreat for Ministers and top government officials immediately after the administration took office in 2023.

In his congratulatory message, the President celebrated the former Minister as an iconic innovator who brought rare institutional integrity, brilliance, and strict corporate discipline to public office. President Tinubu described Professor Nnaji as one of the country’s most critical and foundational players in the power sector, praising his acute foresight and keenness of mind in pioneering the Aba Integrated Power Project.

This landmark venture stands as Nigeria’s very first fully vertically integrated electricity utility, designed to generate and distribute its own energy independently.

The revolutionary Aba electricity project had famously experienced twenty long years of bureaucratic and systemic delays before it was finally unlocked, completed, and commissioned by Vice-President Kashim Shettima on behalf of the President in February 2024.

The President highly commended Professor Nnaji for his relentless contributions to the ongoing structural reforms within the national grid ecosystem, thanking him for consistently leading the charge to illuminate Nigerian homes and industries despite facing immense institutional challenges.

Concluding his tribute, President Tinubu offered his heartfelt prayers for the professor, wishing him many more active years of robust good health, happiness, and even greater successes in his future engineering and administrative endeavors.
