Operation “Kosaye” has led to the arrest of 43 suspects during a police raid on a criminal hideout in Ogun State, bringing the total number of arrests to 76.
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 43 suspects during Operation “Kosaye,” a coordinated raid on a criminal hideout at Isheri-Olofin along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The operation, carried out by the Special Weapons and Tactical (SWAT) Unit, brings the total number of suspects arrested under the ongoing crackdown to 76.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Sunday in Abeokuta.
According to Babaseyi, the July 8 operation followed credible intelligence linking the location opposite the Kara Cattle Market to cultism, drug abuse, prostitution and other criminal activities.
He said SWAT operatives, led by the unit’s commander, arrested 28 men and 15 women during the intelligence-driven raid.
Items recovered from the suspects included substances suspected to be cannabis, “Loud” and other hard drugs, as well as 10 mobile phones, four power banks and other exhibits.
Babaseyi stated that all 43 suspects have been arraigned before a court and remanded over offences including conspiracy, membership of an unlawful society, drug-related offences, prostitution and conduct likely to breach public peace.
He added that some of the suspects are providing investigators with useful information, while follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network.
Commending the SWAT team for its professionalism, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s determination to dismantle criminal hideouts across Ogun State.
“The state will remain hostile terrain for criminals, and hideouts, drug joints, brothels used as covers for criminal activities, cult enclaves and other black spots will continue to be identified, raided and dismantled,” the police commissioner said.
Ojajuni also appealed to residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, assuring them that intelligence-led policing would remain central to efforts to protect lives, property and maintain public order across the state.
