The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has uploaded the nomination particulars of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to the INEC portal, while assuring Nigerians that the submission of other candidates remains on schedule.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has uploaded the nomination particulars of its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal in compliance with the electoral timetable.

The National Leader of the NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, disclosed this in a post shared on his X account on Wednesday.

Dickson said the party would upload the name of its vice-presidential candidate after completing the required documentation, adding that the submission of candidates for other elective offices was also underway.

He assured party members and supporters that there was ample time to submit the names of candidates for the National Assembly, governorship and state Houses of Assembly before the deadlines set by INEC.

“There is enough time for all candidates’ names to be submitted to INEC and there is no reason for anyone to panic,” he said.

The former Bayelsa State governor also revealed that the NDC had filed an appeal against a court ruling affecting the party, alongside an application for a stay of execution.

According to him, both court processes have been served on the Chairman of INEC with a request for the commission to act in accordance with the law.

Dickson maintained that the NDC remains a duly registered political party, stressing that it had successfully concluded its nationwide primary elections under the supervision of INEC.

He explained that the remaining task was the administrative submission of qualified candidates’ names through the commission’s nomination portal, to which the party had already been granted access.

The NDC leader thanked all aspirants who participated in the party’s primaries, acknowledging that although the exercise experienced some challenges, efforts were ongoing to reconcile dissatisfied members.

He assured unsuccessful aspirants that they would be integrated into the party’s campaign structures and various committees, describing them as an important part of the party’s future.

Dickson also commended INEC, led by Prof. Joash Amupitan, for what he described as professionalism in registering the NDC and two other political parties in compliance with a court order.

He further called on the electoral commission, the judiciary and security agencies to remain impartial in protecting Nigeria’s democratic process, expressing confidence that the courts would determine the pending appeal in line with the law.

Reaffirming the party’s commitment to Nigeria’s democracy, Dickson declared that the NDC “has come to stay” and urged Nigerians to continue supporting democratic institutions and the country’s multi-party system.
