The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old suspected armed robber allegedly found with a suspected human hand, locally made firearms, axes, ATM cards and a PoS machine during a stop-and-search operation on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

LAGOS – The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old suspected armed robber allegedly found in possession of a suspected human hand, firearms and other weapons during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday.
According to Adebisi, police operatives intercepted an unregistered commercial shuttle bus carrying six occupants when officers conducted the operation, leading to the arrest of one of the passengers.
She said a search of the vehicle and its occupants resulted in the recovery of a suspected human right hand, two locally made pistols, one live cartridge and two axes.
Police also recovered one Point of Sale (PoS) machine and five Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards from the suspect.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect confessed to recently robbing three persons of their belongings, including the recovered PoS machine and ATM cards.
She said efforts were underway to identify and contact the victims so the recovered property could be returned.
Adebisi added that investigators were working to establish the identity of the owner of the suspected human hand, the circumstances surrounding its possession and its intended use.
She further disclosed that security operatives were intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend other suspected accomplices linked to the case.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” she said.
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr. Fatai Tijani, reassured residents of the command’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to the police to support crime prevention and public safety.
The police advised residents to make use of its emergency contact lines to report suspicious activities and other security concerns as investigations into the case continue.
