Nollywood actors and filmmakers will participate in the 2026 Windsor International Black Film Festival in Canada, creating new opportunities for international exposure, talent representation, cultural exchange, co-productions, and global industry partnerships.
ENUGU, Nigeria – Nollywood actors and filmmakers are set to take centre stage at the 2026 edition of the Windsor International Black Film Festival (WIBFF) in Ontario, Canada, as organisers unveil plans to strengthen global opportunities for Nigerian film professionals.
The announcement was made during a media conference in Enugu by the Festival Director and President of WIBFF, Dr. Queen Eghujovbo, who revealed that the festival would feature a dedicated Nollywood Micro Section alongside The Actors Market Place (TAMP) as major highlights of the August 13–16, 2026 event.
Represented by festival coordinator Prince Alexander Nwokeabia, Eghujovbo described the initiative as a landmark collaboration between WIBFF and the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) aimed at promoting African cinema, celebrating Black excellence, and expanding international opportunities for African creatives.
According to her, TAMP has been specifically designed as a global platform where Nigerian actors can showcase their talent, creativity, and professional achievements before an audience that includes casting directors, producers, distributors, talent agents, film executives, and entertainment stakeholders from Africa, North America, Europe, the Caribbean, and South America.
“As one of North America’s leading festivals dedicated to Black and African storytelling, WIBFF remains committed to building bridges between Africa and the global Black community,” Eghujovbo said.
She noted that the festival serves as a hub for filmmakers, actors, producers, and cultural leaders, fostering collaboration, innovation, cultural exchange, and economic opportunities across the global creative industry.
Eghujovbo further emphasised that WIBFF recognises Nollywood as a major force in global cinema and is committed to creating pathways for Nigerian actors and filmmakers to access international markets, secure representation, explore co-production opportunities, and establish long-term professional partnerships.
“Through initiatives such as The Actors Marketplace, WIBFF continues to champion the voices, stories, and achievements of Africans and Black people around the world while promoting collaboration and professional growth,” she added.
Speaking at the event, Chief Steve Eboh, Festival Director of the AGN International Festival, described the partnership as a significant milestone in efforts to expand the global footprint of Nigerian actors and filmmakers.
He said the collaboration would strengthen cultural exchange while reinforcing the growing influence of Nollywood within the international entertainment industry.
According to Eboh, the initiative will also function as a strategic marketplace for talent discovery, international casting opportunities, industry representation, co-productions, and sustainable collaborations across borders.
He commended TravelWings Nigeria, the official travel and logistics partner for the AGN International Festival Canada Edition, for providing travel support, visa advisory services, logistics coordination, and professional guidance for delegates and participants.
Eboh also called on corporate organisations, government agencies, development partners, investors, and supporters of the Nigerian film industry to back the initiative and contribute to its success.
Also speaking, the National Vice President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Chukwudike Anigbo, encouraged members of the guild to seize the opportunity to participate in the international festival and gain exposure to global best practices in filmmaking and entertainment.
Anigbo expressed confidence that the event would create fresh opportunities for Nigerian actors and filmmakers while strengthening the position of Nollywood on the global stage.
The 2026 Windsor International Black Film Festival is expected to bring together leading creatives, industry professionals, and cultural stakeholders from across the world, further enhancing international collaboration and visibility for African cinema.
