Renowned scientist and former Minister of Power, Prof. Bart Nnaji, has officially endorsed Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Tinubu for re-election, praising Mbah’s infrastructure strides.

ENUGU, Nigeria – In a major political development, the former Minister of Power and globally renowned engineering pioneer, Prof. Bart Nnaji, has formally declared his absolute endorsement for Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Nnaji, an indigene of Nkanu East, made the high-profile announcement on Monday at the Government House in Enugu while briefing correspondents. He cited the governor’s execution of landmark developmental projects across the state within his first three years in office as the primary catalyst for his endorsement.
Reflecting on his unavoidable absence at the weekend’s massive “Ofu Obi Mega Rally” – where the entire Enugu East Senatorial District converged to endorse the political duo – Prof. Nnaji emphasized that governance requires strategic alignment. He affirmed that his visit was intended to explicitly validate the up-ballot and down-ballot alignment for both the President and the Governor.
“On the support for the President, there is a lineup for the office. And that lineup is very important – both the up-ballot and down-ballot candidates usually have to be supported by clear-thinking people. That is what we are doing,” Nnaji asserted.
Providing context to his support, the former minister recalled leading a high-powered delegation of Nkanu East stakeholders during the 2023 campaign cycle to plead for equity. He noted that prior to the Mbah administration, Nkanu East was entirely neglected, forcing residents in the Idodo axis to transit through four different local government areas just to access their own council headquarters in Amagunze.

“Now all that is changing because of the work of His Excellency, our governor,” Nnaji remarked. “And you can see that to go from that Idodo area to Amagunze, our local government headquarters, is now a matter of a few minutes. That has totally changed the calculation.”
Beyond rural connectivity, the former minister highly commended the administration’s aggressive interventions in regional security, massive road construction, and specialized healthcare infrastructure. He pinpointed the ongoing development of the Enugu International Hospital as a visionary masterstroke capable of reversing medical tourism and checking the brain drain of local medical experts.
Prof. Nnaji urged political aspirants currently eyeing the governorship seat in 2027 to shelve minor political friction and instead collaborate with the incumbent executive to consolidate these verified gains.
Describing Governor Mbah as a highly collaborative and listening leader, Nnaji urged elder statesmen and technical stakeholders across the state to proffer constructive advisory inputs directly to the administration rather than fueling unnecessary division.
He concluded that when an executive demonstrates clear excellence, the most logical step for forward-thinking citizens is to guarantee continuity to ensure the state’s long-term prosperity.
Recall that in 2023, Labour Party which caused major upset in Enugu State with overwhelming victory, anchored on Nnaji as Peter Obi’s right hand man to achieve that degree of success.
