Celebrating three years in office at the Government House Chapel, Governor Peter Mbah maps out Enugu’s transition into a high-tech regional economy backed by institutional accountability.

The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has stated that his administration is successfully rebuilding public institutional trust, transforming regional infrastructure, and laying a solid foundation for a highly prosperous future.

The Governor made the assertion during a special 3rd Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass held at the Government House Chapel in Enugu on Friday, May 29, 2026. Reflecting on his administrative journey since being sworn into office in May 2023, Mbah noted that his signing of the landmark Citizens’ Charter symbolised a deep commitment to restoring public confidence in governance.

According to the Governor, his team took the reins of power at a time when many residents had completely lost faith in public offices due to decades of unfulfilled political promises. He explained that changing this mindset required shifting the state’s administrative apparatus toward an efficient, service-centered operation.

Governor Mbah highlighted the visible progress achieved across the state’s education, technology, transportation, healthcare, security, and infrastructure sectors. He added that Enugu is gradually positioning itself as a strategic hub for the new energy economy.

In the education sector, schools are introducing technology-driven smart classrooms that expose young minds to robotics, artificial intelligence, modern agricultural sciences, and digital coding.

To boost regional trade, the state is executing expansive road networks, building modern transport terminals, and expanding flight routes to link Enugu with major commercial cities.

However, the Governor emphasized that long-term, sustainable development will ultimately depend on local communities taking ownership of and protecting these public assets:

“The Charter was about trust, about rebuilding faith in public office and creating a service-centred mindset. Three years ago, much of this journey depended on vision, thought, and the willingness of people to take a chance on a new direction. Today, people can see the change around them. The future of this state cannot depend on one administration or one political movement alone. It must be rooted in public culture and in the way communities protect what has been built,” Governor Peter Mbah urged.

Delivering his homily at the service, a renowned Catholic cleric and scholar, Monsignor Professor Francis Obiora Ike, highly commended Governor Mbah for his visible, life-changing projects across the state. The cleric also praised Mbah and his predecessor, former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for maintaining an exemplary, peaceful relationship.

He described their political maturity as a powerful symbol of unity necessary for sustainable regional growth. Monsignor Ike concluded by reminding leaders to surround themselves with sincere, competent advisers, noting that public governance succeeds when those in authority remain humble and work closely with people genuinely committed to the common good.
