Christopher Musa, has strongly reaffirmed the Federal Government’s sacred commitment to the welfare and long-term support of the families of fallen military personnel. The defense chief delivered this heartfelt assurance at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja while hosting Mr. Hassan Braimah, the brother of the late frontline hero, Brig.-Gen. Oseni Braimah.
In an official statement released on Tuesday by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Leah Babatunde, the government emphasized that the supreme sacrifices made by brave soldiers on the battlefield will always be met with matching institutional care and active pillars of survival for the loved ones left behind.
The late Brig.-Gen. Braimah, a highly revered infantry officer of the Nigerian Army, tragically laid down his life in the line of duty at Benisheikh on April 9 while gallantly serving as the Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade. Following his ultimate sacrifice, he was laid to rest with full military honors at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri on April 15, alongside seven other courageous service members who also fell in active service.
During the emotional Abuja visit, Hassan shared moving memories of his late brother, painting a portrait of a fiercely dedicated officer who maintained an unyielding devotion to national sovereignty until his final moments, while expressing immense pride in the general’s legacy and promising the family’s enduring protection over his immediate dependents.
Responding to the family’s visit, Gen. Musa extended the deep, collective condolences of the Ministry of Defence and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria to the Braimah family during this trying period of grief. He explicitly vowed that the military high command would aggressively sustain comprehensive assistance packages and guarantee open, direct lines of communication to ensure these households never navigate their losses alone.
Declaring that the Armed Forces will never abandon the families of those who pay the ultimate price for the nation, the minister asserted that this engagement underscores Nigeria’s eternal debt to its protectors, reinforcing a state resolve to honor their memory through relentless institutional backing.
