Nigeria and the United States have recorded a major success in ongoing counterterrorism operations following a coordinated military strike that reportedly eliminated a senior leader of the Islamic State, Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki, also known as Abu-Mainok.

According to official statements, the overnight operation was carried out jointly by the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the United States as part of continued security cooperation between both countries.

Early operational assessments indicated that Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki and several of his lieutenants were killed during the strike on his compound in the Lake Chad Basin, a region that has remained a major hotspot for terrorist activities in West Africa.

Authorities described the operation as a significant blow to ISIS operations and extremist networks operating within the region.

The Federal Government praised the growing security partnership between Nigeria and the United States, noting that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to combating terrorism and strengthening regional stability.

Nigeria also expressed appreciation to Donald Trump for his leadership and support in advancing joint security objectives between both nations.

Officials further commended military personnel involved in the operation for their professionalism, coordination, and bravery during the mission.

The government reiterated its commitment to sustaining aggressive counterterrorism operations against insurgent and terrorist enclaves across the country, while promising additional decisive actions aimed at restoring peace and national security.
