The African Democratic Congress has rejected claims of David Mark’s resignation, describing the report as false and malicious while reaffirming that the party chairman remains in office and leadership remains united ahead of 2027 political permutations.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has firmly dismissed reports alleging the resignation of its National Chairman, Senator David Mark, describing the claim as false, malicious, and deliberately misleading.
In a statement issued by Paul Mumeh from the Media Office of the National Chairman, the party characterised the report as “an insidious fabrication” orchestrated by what it called “puerile, weak, and inconsiderate propagandists” seeking to create confusion within the party.
The ADC clarified that Mark remains the substantive National Chairman and that there is no contemplation of his resignation either by him or by the party leadership.
“The assertion that Mark has stepped down exists only in the warped imagination of those bent on spreading falsehood and creating confusion within our party,” the statement said.
The party stressed that its leadership remains united, focused, and resolute in strengthening democratic values and providing credible political leadership to Nigerians.
It further warned against attempts to destabilise the party, noting that such efforts are driven by fear of the ADC’s growing influence and emerging political permutations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The ADC, its leadership, and the majority of Nigerians are unbending in their collective determination to resist any plot aimed at undermining Nigeria’s multi-party democracy or imposing a one-party system,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to democratic ideals, the party urged Nigerians to disregard the resignation rumours and remain confident in the stability and leadership of the ADC.
