The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed four officers over their alleged involvement in the killing of seven traders at Owode Onirin in Lagos.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Olohundare Jimoh, confirmed the dismissal while briefing journalists at the Ikeja Police Officers’ Mess.

Jimoh disclosed that investigations into the tragic incident were ongoing, noting that the dismissed officers were allegedly brought from Nasarawa State by the principal suspect identified as Ariori.

According to him, the officers were involved in the unlawful killings that occurred during the incident.

He assured the public that the police command remains committed to ensuring justice for the victims, adding that ballistic and autopsy reports are already guiding the prosecution process.

“This matter has not been swept under the carpet, and we want the public and all the families of the victims to know that nobody can stop us from ensuring that justice is done,” Jimoh said.

“We will leave no stone unturned and will not be intimidated by anyone. All suspects will be prosecuted, and the courts remain open to hear every case.”

The police commissioner emphasised that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to its constitutional responsibility of maintaining law and order, stressing that no individual or group would be allowed to obstruct justice.

Jimoh further revealed that about 98 per cent of the investigation had been completed, adding that the command would continue taking necessary actions to ensure security across Lagos.

He also urged residents and traders to remain vigilant while assuring them that the police are determined to guarantee safety and justice.

The incident occurred in August 2025 during a clash between land grabbers and traders at the Owode Onirin area of Lagos State.
