The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has detained five suspects over alleged involvement in robbery activities in Eket Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Uyo.
According to her, the suspects were apprehended during a targeted raid on identified criminal hideouts and black spots in Eket on Monday.
“During the raid, five suspects – three men and two women – were apprehended,” she said.
John revealed that operatives recovered dried leaves suspected to be Colorado, loud and other liquid intoxicants. Also seized were tramadol and codeine tablets, methamphetamine (commonly known as ice), an ATM card and N15,800 in cash.
The police spokesperson stated that the suspects are currently undergoing thorough investigation to determine the extent of their involvement in criminal activities.
She reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intensifying its anti-robbery and crime prevention operations across the state.
John also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities within their communities to the police.
