The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has detained five Akwa Ibom armed robbery suspects during a coordinated raid in Eket Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Uyo on Tuesday.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspects were arrested on Monday following a raid on identified criminal hideouts and black spots within Eket.
She said the suspects comprise three men and two women, all apprehended during the operation.
“During the raid, five suspects were arrested. Items recovered include dried leaves suspected to be a hard drug known as Colorado, loud and other liquid intoxicants,” DSP John said.
She added that tramadol and codeine tablets, methamphetamine (popularly known as ‘ice’), an ATM card, and ₦15,800 in cash were also recovered from the suspects.
DSP John stated that the Akwa Ibom armed robbery suspects are currently undergoing thorough investigation to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities.
She reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained crime-fighting efforts across the state and urged residents to report suspicious movements or activities to the police at all times.
