Access Bank Plc has appointed Mrs. Ifeyinwa Osime as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors, following the retirement of Mr. Paul Usoro on January 29.

The appointment was disclosed in a statement filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Monday.

Osime, a seasoned legal practitioner and corporate governance expert, joined the Access Bank Board in November 2019 as an Independent Non-Executive Director. She previously chaired the Board Human Resources and Sustainability Committee as well as the Governance, Nomination and Remuneration Committee, where she played a key role in strengthening the bank’s governance framework, leadership development and sustainability strategy.

Beyond Access Bank, Osime serves as a Director at Ebudo Trust Ltd. and is a Partner at McPherson Legal Practitioners, where she advises on corporate and commercial law matters and contributes to strategic decision-making.

She is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Bar Association, Women Corporate Directors (Nigeria Chapter) and the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria, where she sits on the Executive Committee of the Women Sectorial Group.

Osime is also actively engaged in youth mentorship and inclusion initiatives and participates in the Autism and Developmental Delays Support Community, reflecting her commitment to social impact and inclusive leadership.

Commenting on the appointment, Group Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, described Osime as a principled and experienced leader with deep institutional knowledge.

“Mrs. Osime has demonstrated a strong commitment to the Bank’s vision and values, with a deep understanding of its strategic direction.

Aig-Imoukhuede also congratulated Mr. Paul Usoro on the successful completion of his tenure, commending his exemplary leadership and significant contributions to the growth and stability of the group.
