Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has approved an extensive welfare package for the father of a woman and her six children brutally killed in the Chiranci Dorayi area of Kano metropolis.
The package includes sponsorship for Hajj and Umrah, provision of a new house, and comprehensive welfare support from the state government.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kano by the governor’s spokesperson, Mr Sanusi Bature.
Governor Yusuf announced the measures during a condolence visit to the bereaved family, where he expressed deep sorrow over the killings and assured them of the government’s continued support.
He also directed the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to fast-track the prosecution of suspects arrested in connection with the massacre.
The governor vowed to sign the death warrant for any individual convicted over the Chiranci Dorayi killings, the murder of Hanifa, and the Gezawa arson attacks.
Governor Yusuf commended security agencies for their swift response and successful arrest of the suspects linked to the crimes.
In a gesture of appreciation, the bereaved father donated his personal house to the Kano State Government for the construction of an Islamiyya school.
The governor also paid separate condolence visits to the families of the late Dr Bature AbdulAziz and Baba Umar, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Private and Voluntary Schools Board.
