An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday ordered the remand of two men at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over the alleged defilement of an 11-year-old girl.
The defendants, Tunde Ojo, identified as an evangelist, and Eteng Best, a teacher, are residents of the Agbelekale and Aboru areas of Lagos State.
Chief Magistrate L. A. Owolabi declined to take their pleas and directed that the suspects be remanded pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The court adjourned the matter until March 4 for further proceedings.
The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the alleged offences were committed on December 8 and December 12, 2025, at Aboru and Agbelekale respectively.
According to the prosecution, the evangelist, who worships at the same church as the victim’s father, was allegedly caught in a compromising situation with the child.
The prosecutor further informed the court that the victim later reported that her school teacher also allegedly defiled her when she assisted him in carrying his bag home.
Ademigbuji stated that the alleged offences contravene Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
