Qatar has welcomed the announcement by the United States on the commencement of the second phase of the Gaza peace plan, reaffirming its commitment to mediating a lasting settlement between Israel and Hamas.

The Gulf state, which has played a central role in facilitating negotiations, expressed optimism that the new phase would significantly improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Speaking on Thursday, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Majid al-Ansari, said the implementation of the next phase could help alleviate the suffering of civilians affected by nearly two years of conflict.

He stressed that all parties involved must fully implement the agreement and allow unrestricted access for humanitarian assistance to ensure dignified living conditions for the population.

Al-Ansari also called for the swift reconstruction of Gaza, noting that much of the Palestinian territory has been left in ruins by prolonged fighting.

Late on Wednesday, he urged the international community to sustain its support for efforts aimed at achieving a permanent ceasefire.

According to the United States, the second phase of the peace plan will focus on disarming Hamas, establishing a transitional technocratic government, and initiating the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff disclosed that the proposed transitional administration would exclude Hamas members.

Egyptian security sources further revealed that Hamas has agreed on the nominees for the planned technocratic government, despite ongoing disagreements over disarmament.
