The Kaduna State Police Command has announced a statewide ban on the use of fireworks and knockouts in the interest of public safety and security.

The directive was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kaduna by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan.

Hassan warned residents to celebrate responsibly, stressing that the use of fireworks and knockouts was strictly prohibited across the state.

According to him, the ban is aimed at preventing criminals from exploiting loud explosive sounds to perpetrate crimes, create panic or disrupt public peace.

The police spokesman disclosed that the command had received credible intelligence indicating that some miscreants had already begun using knockouts, thereby disturbing residents and causing fear within communities.

He emphasised that such activities posed serious security risks, especially during periods of heightened public movement and festivities.

“The command wishes to warn that any person found using or involved in the use of fireworks or knockouts, despite this ban, will be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the law,” Hassan said.

The police assured residents of Kaduna State of their continued commitment to maintaining law and order, urging members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities promptly.
