The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun Sector Command, has confirmed that one person lost his life in a lone accident involving a motorcycle on the Jagilegbo highway in Osun State.

The Sector Commander, Mr Olaleye Adegboyega, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Osogbo by the command’s spokesperson, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi.

Adegboyega said the accident occurred on Tuesday night at about 9:30 p.m. around the Jagilegbo area, resulting in one fatality and leaving another passenger seriously injured.

According to him, the accident involved a black motorcycle with an unregistered number plate.

“A black motorcycle with an unregistered number plate was involved in a fatal accident, claiming the rider’s life, while the other passenger sustained severe injuries,” he said.

The sector commander attributed the accident to speed violation and disobedience to safety regulations.

He added that the deceased had been deposited at the morgue, while the injured passenger was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

Adegboyega urged all road users to desist from excessive speeding and to ensure their vehicles and motorcycles are properly registered to aid identification and enforcement of traffic regulations.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to improving road safety and reducing avoidable accidents across the state.
