The Police Command in Borno has successfully thwarted an assault by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Malari village in Konduga Local Government Area and has launched a coordinated manhunt to rescue three abducted farmers.

ASP Nahum Daso, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, confirmed that the incident occurred on November 30, when armed assailants on over 15 motorcycles stormed the community and opened fire on residents.

During the attack, a 15-year-old boy, Basha Goigoi of Muna, sustained a gunshot wound to the right thigh and was taken to the General Hospital, Maiduguri, where he is currently receiving treatment. The terrorists also abducted three villagers identified as Alhaji Kundili (35), Baba Goni (45), and Modu Baluye (50), who were working on their farms at the time.

Daso told NAN, “Our operatives in Konduga responded swiftly, engaging the terrorists in a gun duel and successfully repelling the attack.”

He added that a joint team comprising the military, police tactical squads, Civilian Joint Task Force, and local hunters has been deployed to track the attackers and secure the safe release of the kidnapped farmers.

The Police urged residents to remain alert and share timely information that will aid ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the state.
