The Nigerian Army has recorded significant success in ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the North-East, North-West, North-Central, and South-South, following a series of coordinated missions within the last 24 hours. According to a senior Army Headquarters source, troops have maintained an aggressive operational stance designed to degrade terrorist movements, disrupt logistics networks, and restore stability in vulnerable communities nationwide.
Under Operation Fansan Yamma, troops of the 3 Brigade deployed to Tsanyawa in Kano State successfully disrupted an attempted movement of terrorists from Kankia in Katsina State. Acting on credible intelligence, the soldiers pursued the criminals after an abduction report. Their swift response led to the rescue of one female victim, while another managed to escape due to the pressure applied by the troops. This reflects a mounting operational success pattern in the North-West corridor, where troops continue to respond rapidly to emerging threats.
In Kaduna State, troops of 1 Division at FOB Dogon Dawa tracked down terrorists who attacked Madobiya community in Birnin Gwari. The troops pursued the attackers to Damari, apprehending one suspect and recovering two motorcycles and other items. Similarly, troops of the 17 Brigade, during a fighting patrol in Kaiga, Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, engaged terrorists and recovered a motorcycle, a Baofeng radio, ammunition, and cash.
In Sokoto State, troops intercepted three suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Kebbe. During the operation, they seized 375 litres of petrol, soft drinks, sachet water, mobile phones, an ATM card, and ₦143,330. The suspects were handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation.
Another operational success was recorded in Kamba, Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where troops engaged terrorists involved in cattle rustling. The soldiers recovered three AK-47 rifles, five magazines, 113 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 182 rounds of PKT ammunition, communication radios, and a mobile phone.
Under Operation MESA, troops of the 177 Guards Battalion, working with other security agencies, apprehended 10 illicit drug dealers in Keffi, Nasarawa State, and dismantled their illegal market. In Kogi State, troops of the 12 Brigade intercepted a vehicle transporting 108.8 kilograms of cannabis and arrested the suspect.
Troops operating under Operation Whirl Stroke also secured another breakthrough with the arrest of a suspected member of a kidnapping gang in Wukari, Taraba State. Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect’s involvement in several recent abductions targeting rural communities.
In the South-South, troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe destroyed nine newly built illegal refining sites uncovered in Biseni, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. Several pits, ovens, crude oil, and illegally refined products were neutralized in accordance with established procedures.
The Army source emphasized that these widespread operational successes underscore the effectiveness of ongoing counter-terrorism strategies, adding that troops remain committed to intensifying pressure on criminal elements nationwide. With improved intelligence coordination and an expanded presence across multiple theatres, the Nigerian Army continues to consolidate gains while denying terrorists and criminal networks the freedom to operate.
