President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan on his 68th birthday, highlighting his enduring statesmanship and diplomatic achievements.
The message was issued by Presidential Spokesperson Mr. Bayo Onanuga on Thursday in Abuja.
Tinubu said he congratulated Jonathan for his role in promoting democratic values across Africa, noting that the former President’s leadership continues to inspire leaders on the continent.
He also congratulated Jonathan on his contributions to national development, joining the former President’s family, friends, and political associates in celebrating the milestone.
Acknowledging the simplicity and humility that defined Jonathan’s leadership, Tinubu recalled his historic concession in the 2015 presidential election, describing the moment as pivotal in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and elevating the nation’s global standing.
Tinubu further reflected on his past interactions with Jonathan, including the guidance and support that shaped political developments in 2010 and during the 2011 presidential election, and congratulated him once more while praying for the well-being of Jonathan, his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, and their family.
