Security Deployment in Kano State has taken a significant step forward as Gov. Abba Yusuf approved the distribution of permanent and pensionable appointment letters to 1,600 newly recruited watchmen assigned to secondary schools across the state.
The development, announced in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, on Wednesday, marks one of the administration’s strongest moves toward strengthening the safety and stability of public schools.
Yusuf said the Security Deployment was crucial to restoring discipline in learning environments, stressing that students, teachers and school facilities would benefit from improved protection. He noted that learning cannot thrive where safety is compromised.
According to him, the watchmen will play frontline roles in safeguarding school premises, monitoring unauthorised activities and ensuring the smooth running of academic programmes. He described the Security Deployment as a direct investment in the well-being of students.
The governor commended the Ministry of Education and the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB) for their commitment to executing government directives and ensuring the success of the Security Deployment.
Yusuf urged the newly appointed watchmen to carry out their duties with vigilance, discipline and integrity as the state works to enhance public school security through an effective and coordinated Security Deployment strategy.
