The Adamawa Police Command has arrested a 71-year-old man, Jeriel Peter, for allegedly killing his wife, Miltha Jeriel, aged 67, in Demsa Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement released in Yola, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest, noting that the suspect was apprehended on November 6, 2025, following the incident that occurred two days earlier, on November 4, 2025.

According to the Adamawa Police, the tragic event stemmed from a minor misunderstanding that began at a beer parlor between the couple. “During the altercation, the suspect reportedly attacked and stabbed the victim multiple times all over her body with a knife and an axe,” Nguroje said.

He explained that upon receiving a distress call, the Command immediately dispatched operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Demsa Division to the scene. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.

Nguroje added that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, strongly condemned the incident and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case for a discreet investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.

Morris also used the opportunity to warn against all forms of domestic violence, urging members of the public to always seek peaceful and lawful means of resolving conflicts.

The Adamawa Police Commissioner reassured residents of the state that justice would be served and that no offender would evade lawful punishment.

“The Command remains committed to ensuring the protection of lives, the promotion of peace, and the prosecution of anyone involved in acts of violence,” the statement concluded. Visit GMTNewsng for more news.
