The Army promotional training is a two-week exercise involving medical tests, physical drills, weapon handling, written and computer-based tests (for clerical staff), and oral interviews aimed at assessing soldiers’ competence and readiness for elevation.

Declaring the training open on Sunday, the Chief of Personnel Management (CPM), Army Headquarters, Maj.-Gen. Adewale Adekeye, cautioned participants against using hard drugs or supplements to boost performance, warning that such substances could endanger their health. https://defence.gov.ng

Adekeye explained that most participants were above 50 years and therefore required natural stamina, discipline, and professionalism to succeed in the Army promotional training.

He conveyed the appreciation of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, for their years of service, commitment, and sacrifice.

“We want to congratulate you for attaining this feat and appreciate the hard work, efficiency, and loyalty you have demonstrated throughout your career in the Nigerian Army,” he said.

The Army promotional training board, he said, would be strictly objective and score participants based solely on performance and merit.

“Bring in your best, display discipline and professionalism in every activity. Do not cheat in any way as it will adversely affect you,” he added.

Adekeye commended the COAS for providing the necessary support and funding for the exercise.

Earlier, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division, Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, urged the soldiers to remain disciplined and focused throughout the Army promotional training.

He assured participants that their welfare and safety remained top priorities and expressed confidence that the promotion board would be firm and impartial in its assessment.

“We thank the COAS for his exemplary leadership and for selecting 82 Division to host this important exercise,” he added.

The ongoing Army promotional training involves Master Warrant Officers aspiring for elevation to the rank of Nigerian Army Warrant Officer. http://gmtnewsng.com
