Abuja, Sept. 19, 2025 – President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), on her election as Vice-President of the Airports Council International (ACI) Africa.

The ratification of her election was confirmed during the 34th ACI Africa General Assembly in Lusaka, Zambia, which ran from September 13 to 19, 2025. ACI Africa represents airports across the continent under the global ACI network, which sets international standards, policies, and best practices for airports.

President Tinubu hailed Kuku’s emergence as a milestone for Nigeria’s aviation industry, noting that her recognition reflects the sustained efforts of FAAN management to make Nigerian airports safer, more efficient, and globally competitive. He emphasized that the achievement underscores Nigeria’s growing influence in international aviation circles.

The President further praised Kuku’s foresight and leadership, which had earlier earned her the role of Regional Advisor for Africa before her elevation to a permanent seat on the ACI World Governing Board. According to him, her latest appointment is a testament to her competence and dedication to advancing the aviation sector.

Founded in 1991, Airports Council International represents more than 2,000 airports in over 170 countries and territories, serving as the world’s foremost advocate for airport excellence.

The Presidency reaffirmed its commitment to supporting reforms that strengthen Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure and ensure the nation’s continued relevance in global air transport. GMTNewsng
